Eric was a loving husband, a kind and honest man, and a true gentleman. He was fascinated with insects from a very young age and acquired quite of collection of butterflies and insects over the years. He became known as a very knowledgeable entomologist, often giving talks on the subject. He loved classical music and opera, was creative and artistic, and enjoyed painting. He was a keen jogger in his earlier years, and completed the London Marathon in 1987 at the age 58. He was a well respected mason, belonging to several lodges, which played a very important part in his life. In his later years he developed Parkinson’s disease which frustrated him, as he could no longer continue with his love of painting. He was a very special man and one I will miss greatly. Until we meet again, your loving wife Gladys.
Rest in peace
I will miss your wicked sense of humour and that mischievous glint in your eye. I will miss our talks about nature and birds, and I promise I will write about my encounters with wildlife just as you had asked. You were quite a unique man, and they certainly broke the mould when they made you. I count myself as privileged to have known and cared for you. Rest in peace, love Dawn (your daughter).
